West Lothian Council is the administrative body that controls (or at least tries to) all things infrastructure within the county. Main administrative centres are located in Linlithgow, Livingston and Bathgate.

The county has a population of about 152,000 souls and was in a recent quality of life survey named as the second most desirable place to live in Britain.

The Council itself employs around 9,000 staff and as such is one of the largest employers in the area. It is responsible for all the services you would expect from a local authority - planning and development, education, highways, and all the other public services you could imagine.

The council is currently engaging on a PPP scheme to improve the quality of existing school buildings and to build some new facilities.
