This is the
B-side of the
Ticket to Ride single by
the Beatles. Most of the
vocals are sung in a somewhat strained voice by
John, and the song - which clocks in at two minutes and forty-two seconds - also features
three-part harmony from John,
Paul, and
George. Recorded on 16 February 1965 at the
Abbey Road studios in
London (Ticket to Ride having been recorded the previous day), the single was released on 19 April. It was produced, of course, by
George Martin, and the engineer was
Norman Smith. The single reached #1 on the U.S.
charts. The disc,
Capitol Records 5407, is worth approximately
$30 today while the
picture sleeve might fetch as much as $100. "Yes It Is" also appeared on
Past Masters Volume 1 in 1988, and a version with
outtakes was included in
The Beatles Anthology 2 in 1996.
