A particularly
controversial line that was excised from
Marilyn Manson's
Antichrist Superstar album after considerable pressure from his
record label,
Interscope. Although Manson and his producer,
Trent Reznor, tried to persuade the label otherwise, the record now being sold in stores does not include the line.
The original line was supposed to occur at the end of the title track, "Antichrist Superstar". The robotic voice that trails off at the end was supposed to utter the above line. In the end, the line was changed to "When all your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed" - which was originally intended exclusively for the final track, "Man That You Fear".
When performing the song live, the original line is retained. Interestingly enough, it is also present - and untampered with - on Marilyn Manson's live album, Last Tour on Earth.
