Young man, young man
your arm's too short to box with God.

from the poem-Prodigal son-James Weldon Johnson

The quote is the introduction to a poem/sermon based on the Bible. In the New testament-(Luke 15:11-32) there is a story of a father and two sons and the choices the sons make. The line refers to the angry, restless son who leaves home to find his way.

J.Johnson, an African American poet, wrote several poems based loosely on the Bible.

These lines were later used as the title of a Broadway play of the same title- circa 1975, New York, United States. The play was written by Vinnete Carroll.
