Active Vocabulary consists of words one can use
readily and without
difficulty or attempting to
recall when
speaking or writing.
My active vocabulary has seriously diminished after speanding 4 years away from an English speaking country but my passive vocabulary has pretty much remained the same. I often find myself at a loss for words when trying to explain something unfamiliar.
