Architomic fragmentation is a term used in biology and genetics for reproduction by splitting into pieces, regrowing, and reorganizing.
In other words, if you take a starfish or a planarian and chop it up, some of the pieces will grow into complete new organisms. Some species undergo fission and architomy spontaneously - you don't have to actually chop them up.
