Asset stickers are used by organisations to identify and track their
property and equipment, for example ICT equipment,
power tools,
furniture and the like.
Quite frequently they are made of some type of metallic foil with a strong adhesive on the reverse. They usually contain a unique identification number and some form of contact information for the organisation that owns the equipment. The stickers are also usually designed that they are very difficult to remove, often manufactured of a substance that once applied cannot be removed in one piece - the sticker cracks into hundreds of tiny fragments that have to be removed individually, even then a sticky, gunky residue is usually left behind. This quality often means that asset stickers are used to security mark expensive equipment.
