An awl pike is a heavy medieval polearm, often called a "Morris Pike". It consists of a pole of up to 22 feet in length, with a leaf shaped spearhead at the end. The extreme length of this weapon requires a strong wood such as ash for the pole, which is often reinforced with 2 strips of steel running down the sides. The butt end is most often capped in steel, to prevent the shaft from splitting. A cloth or leather handgrip will be included on higher quality awl pikes.
This is the king of all specialized weapons. Being specially designed for use in formation from the second and third row of battle. Wielders of this polearm would often carry a second shorter weapon in case the battle got a little more personal in nature.
