Backstage is a wonderful place if you're a rocker or metalhead or groupie or fanboy. You get to shmooze with famous people, take pictures and get autographs. Sometimes there's food or even beer involved. I've even heard rumors of drugs and sex. And people who don't get to go there look at you with envy when you emerge.

Backstage is the home of the techies (well, the theatrical ones). Backstage can often be a dangerous place for people who are not used to the environment (i.e. actors). Specific areas backstage include the fly gallery, the half fly and the green room.

Backstage, the Stage Manager is in charge. Normally, his (or hers) is the ultimate responsibility for all safety in the theatre, so anyone backstage should listen to what he (or she) says.
