A short-hand term for paired nucleotides that sees frequent use in the biological literature. "Kilo-base-pairs" is rarely written out entirely and one tends to see the abbreviated form Kb or Kbp. The recent brouhaha on genome sequencing has led to the rise of the Kb's older cousin, the Mbp.
