A parking technique practiced in cities with more cars than parking spaces. You sit in your car with your hazard lights on, staking a claim on the next availble space. Scan up and down the block for anyone going to their car. Before anyone else can get to the space, you are already there. It only works in high-traffic neighborhoods, where people are constantly coming and going. Block squatting is used as a last resort, after driving around looking for a space for 45 minutes or so. Sometimes, it's the only way you can park (I have to park in the Haight every day, such a pain).
