she looks at me and i cry
i've been crying for a while now
i'll be ok but it would have been nice
not to have seen hatred in those eyes

not to see scorn in the eyes of love
not in my eyes of life or yours
are my eyes bleeding yet?
god that would be embarassing

only show your fluids in private
don't you know what's decent?
i'm really sorry
i'll have to leave now

<wipe>
(god is this ever embarassing)

Yet another poem from my high school days; this is prototypical of my early work. I heavily rely on the imagery of bleeding eyes--this idea came from Anne Rice and the Interview with the Vampire books (the vampires' only bodily fluid was blood, so they cried blood when under emotional stress).

This theme appears in many of my other poems. (see ``psychic'' for an example.)
