The largest and most northern type of forest on earth. Mostly comprised of needle-leafed spruce, fir, pine, larch and other conifers. This band circles the earth from Canada, Alaska, Siberia, and most of Scandinavia. This biome lies between the denser forests and the tundra. Referred to as taiga in Russia. The trees in this region are accustomed to typical temperatures of -70°F (-57°C).
