A statement about a large group of people, places or things based on limited knowledge of one small subset of these classifications. Any statements that include the words -always, all of those, and never have the potential to be broad generalizations, but not necessarily.

I know one person with a hamster.
The hamster peeded on me, therefore,
All hamsters pee on people.

The Montreal Canadiens are a popular sport franchise and have a large following in both Montreal and Canada.

The Montreal Expos are a sport franchise in Montreal, therefore,
The Expos are also a popular franchise.

(This last statement is absurd, since this particular team draws a crowd less than some United States high school football games).
