Spanish version of milky coffee. The version I ran across most often when travelling in Spain is a great way for non coffee lovers to drink coffee. It goes like this:

  1. Take a cup of hot milk
  2. Add a spoonful of instant coffee
  3. Add sugar to taste

Properly, it should probably be leche con café.

Coffee with milk

The spanish cafe au lait. Heated milk, very strong coffee, and plenty of sugar.

I don't believe espresso is used, it's more like moka pot coffee. Low pressure, steam brewed, like the french machines of the 19th century.

In the coffee houses of South America, the waiters go from table to table, serving your Cafe con leche from two carafes. One of hot milk, one of strong coffee, poured in equal amounts.
