This is a strap with a very clever buckle. The buckle uses a cam with teeth on it to grab the fabric of the strap in such a way that the greater the force on the strap the tighter the cam's grip. Yet it is still simple to release the buckle with one hand. A favorite tool of whitewater rafters.
