A combinational logic network, or CLN, is a type of digital system that is purely combinational, that is, the values of the inputs combine to form the output(s).

Thus, the outputs of a CLN depend solely upon the current inputs; it is said to be memoryless. When any input changes, the output changes after a small, nearly instantaneous, propagation delay.

A CLN does not depend upon a clock of any sort, unlike a synchronous sequential network (state machine).
