Conceptual Spaces are created by axes of qualities in which concepts can be placed in relation to one another. For example, colors fit into a 3 axis
coordinate system (
RGB,
HLS,
CIE-LUV, whatever). Within that coordinate system, purple will be between red and blue. Colors that are color to each other in our minds will be close to each other in the
conceptual space. There is a great book _Conceptual Spaces: The Geometry of Thought_ by Peter Gärdenfors.
It is strongly related to a Concept Network but is more rigid - depending on what axes you choose for the given space. Both the network and the space sidestep the problem of global categories
