Crystallin

Also a class of proteins found in the eye that form the lens. Strangely most of them have roles elsewhere in the body, such as Alcohol dehydrogenase or even as a chaperone (alpha crystallin seems to be one).

They all have greek letters to identify them, but often come from memorable organisms as well:

• Elephant Shrew eta crystallin.
• Gecko iota crystallin
• Bovine gamma crystallin
