Cyberfeminism is the name given to a movement created by a diverse group of women ('cyberfeminists') concerned with new technology, from female critical theorists, social anthropologists and scientists to female hackers.
A conference known as the Cyberfeminist International is held biennially in Rotterdam. Notables associated with the movement include Sadie Plant, research fellow and director of the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit at the University of Warwick, UK, and Donna Haraway, the creator of feminist cyborg theory.
Quote from Haraway:
"Cyborg imagery can suggest a way out of the maze of dualisms in which we have explained our bodies and our tools to ourselves."
