A late symptom of a brain injury. This includes extension of arms and neck and pointing of toes. This is caused by hightened intracranial pressure. This can be caused by a CVA (cerebrovascual accident, or stroke), an anneurysm, a brain tumor or perhaps most commonly, severe head trauma. Decerebrate posturing yields a GCS score of 2. This is an even more dangerous sign of a brain injury than decorticate posturing.
