In geology, a zone proposed as part of the outmoded concept of metamorphic zones.

The concept of a primary correlation between metamorphic processes and depth, in which there were considered to be a set of continuous zones parallel to the Earth's surface, grading downwards, has largely been proven false.

These continuous zones were known as depth zones, and theory held that each class of metamorphic rock formed in a particular zone.
