"Disabled List," referred to often as just "DL" is a term often used in the context of sports. The DL is for athletes who have injuries that are not considered threatening or season-ending. Players on the DL are expected to come back anywhere from anywhere from 15 days to 2 months. In baseball players can be on either a 15-day or 60-day DL.

Sometimes when players come off of the DL, if they are indeed major league players, they oftentimes play for their team's minor league affiliate, or farm team for reconditioning. Sometimes they do this for just one game or several. This is to ensure that they are ready to play with the big boys again and that their injury is fully healed.
