Also known as the battery section, the drum line consists of the percussionists who actually march on the field in a marching band or drum corps. Called a "line" for short, just as the pit percussion is called the "pit" for short. The pit stays where it is and has all the big percussion instruments that would be a pain in the ass to march with, like all the mallet percussion stuff. The line has marching snares, tenors, cymbals, and basses.
