Free Alongside Ship: a term of purchase. In marine shipping, it means that the price quoted is for the goods delivered to the quay in the port of origin. This means that the seller provides transportation up that point, and that his responsibility for the goods ceases on the quay. The buyer must arrange for loading the ship, and, very importantly, for clearing customs and paying export duty if there is one.

Terms of Shipping: FAS, FOB, c.i.f, EXW, DDP, FCA, CPT
