Note that flamboyance is often a result of misplacing the boundary between the Self and the Other. Of course, social norms regarding the placement of this boundary vary per community. Notions of flamboyance in Greenwich Village, New York, are different from those in, say, Tokyo, Japan. A lot of this difference has to do with disparate societal and cultural notions of community and the role of the individual.
