Free Music Production. A German indie label founded in 1969. FMP and its sister label SAJ (run by drummer Sven-Åke Johannsson of Peter Brotzmann's old trio) were among the biggest and best of the documentors of European free improvisation, though many recordings are now out of print; long before the fall of the Berlin Wall, FMP recorded the avant-garde of East Germany. Organizers of "Total Music Meeting", an alternative to the $uit-driven crap of Big Money jazz festivals.
