The freedom to publish newspapers, journals, magazines, books, etc. without government interference or prior censorship. Specific freedoms of the press include the right to found a publications free from licensing restraints, editorial freedom, the right of access to public institutions, and the confidentiality of journalist's sources. Freedom of the press may conflict with other rights, such as the individual's right to privacy.
