a mismatch in the genetic code of a living thing, frequently caused by radiation damage. Varies in severity - can result simply in offspring differing in pigment e.g. ginger hair, can be fatal, or anything inbetween.

When one comes to think about it, "genetic abnormalities" are the basis for the theory of evolution. Supposedly, evolution happens because of genetic mutations. These mutations are due to the fact that we have so much code in our DNA, and there is bound to be flaws. A lot of the time, these sequences don't benefit the organism. But occasionally, these mutation make the organim better able to surive in their environment and they live on.....

But everybody reading this has heard that crap before. It's probably been noded many times. I'm just simply pointing out the fact that these "genetic abnormalities" are simply genetic mutations, mismatches - that in general are not beneficial to an organism. But, however, what if a certain male finds ginger hair on a female attractive? Could it then be stated that it was a good genetic abnormality? If the trait is passed, it could eventually root itself in our gene pool, and humanity evolves....
