They are usually controlled by small children or emotionally disturbed teenagers, which just goes to show that the Japanese have very different ideas about how the business of national defense should be conducted than most other countries.

Sure, they could put their 100-foot-tall, rocket-launching, sword-big-enough-to-cut-Yankee Stadium-in-half-carrying war machines under the control of responsible, even-tempered, stable adults. But where's the fun in that?
