Hard Determinism is the "pure" form of the deterministic philosophies, which state in a general sense that everything is caused.

The distinction between hard and soft determinism is in the matter of personal choice. Whereas in soft determinism, a person has the ability to either do or not do (based on a specialized definition of free will which I won't get into here), hard determinism states that there is no choice.
