slang term that I am currently making a one man effort to revive. Holmes has the functional equivalent of "
man", as in "What's up man?" which simply becomes "What's up holmes?".
I wouldn't argue with anyone who says this derives from homeboy; thus, making the spelling of the word "homes". In my head though I relate it to Sherlock Holmes and No shit Sherlock.
