Second species of man according to Carolus Linnaeus (the other one being homo sapiens). Homo nocturnes, or troglodytes, were defined as white-skinned, erect of spine, and possessed of long arms and hands which dangled near the knees. Homo nocturnes was said to be dayblind, though accustomed to wandering around at night looking for food and so on. The language of homo nocturnes was said by Linnaeus to be an unintelligible hiss. Linnaeus is silent on other relevant matters, and there is little contextual material to aid in situating his arrival at this distinction (i.e., first-hand experiences etc.).
