The era of interactive television has already begun in Europe. Several satelite channels have the option now to broadcast interactive options along with the normal televison transmissions. The interactive options available at this time is multi-angle viewing, the possibility to vote and choose from web-like information pages. The interactive television systems must not be confused with such appliances as Pay-per-view, even though the interactive system has an option for this as well.

Some of the satelite channels actively using this system are Sky and Viasat. Historically, Europe has been quite advanced when it comes to the television / computer mix. Teletext has been around for some 25 years and France were quite early out on the interactive branch with the Minitel system.
