The typical interocular distance is about 2.5 inches, not 2.5 cm (1 inch). This can be verified by looking in a mirror.

Interocular distance occurs with variable frequency depending on the subject. Due to its spontaneous and transient nature, no interocular distance is typical. Example distances include approximately 5 feet, 16 feet (487.68 cm) across tables or desks, and in extreme cases may be anywhere from 25 cm to as close as 2.5 cm. Distances of 100 yards or more have been reported.
