'to kvetch' was originally a Yiddish verb but it has since been Americanized into the following meanings:

* 1. 'to kvetch' is to complain a great deal about something, whether in genuine complaint or to vent frustrations or as a form of empty grousing

* 2. a 'kvetch' is either a nagging complaint or a group session of small talk during which people vent frustrations

* 3. 'kvetch' is sometimes used as an euphemism for the non-gender-specific meanings of the epithet bitch

And also a play by Steven Berkoff consisting entirely of people making inane and embarrassing small-talk interspersed with long asides detailing their fears and frustrations.

I haven't seen it, but having read it I think it must take a very good production to stop it being boring and pointless.
