A solitary bee, about 10mm long on average, belonging to the genus Megachile. It nests in rotten wood and soil, lining the chamber and egg cells with pieces of leaf, which it cuts with it's strong jaws.

Leafcutters are similar to honeybees in appearance and have pollen-carrying brushes on the underside of their abdomens.
