A really cool Linux software utility that munges a system's logfiles.

Provides scriptable access to rotation (the process of saving one logfile off and starting a fresh one to reduce the overall size of otherwise unmanageable logfiles), tarring (compression) of logfiles, deleting un-wanted logfiles, and also emailing of logfiles.

logrotate is most useful when scripted so as to run automatically via cron.
