lucharesu is a blended word created from puroresu, which is the Japanese style of professional wrestling, and lucha libre, the Mexican style. It describes a specific blend of the stiff strikes, suplexes, and power moves of puroresu with the high-flying acrobatics of lucha libre. The best example of lucharesu today is in Ultimo Dragon's Toryumon promotion, but its origins can be traced back to The Great Sasuke's Michinoku Pro promotion in the mid 90's and, even earlier than that, Gran Hamada's UWF promotion in the early 90's.
