The marvelous bittersweet thing that happens when a smell or a song or a spoken phrase reminds you of a painfully clear day or week or moment in your past. Certain sensations often become memory trips, perhaps the smell of a certain brand of sunscreen or a stupid song on the radio that was overplayed when you were in love. Memory trips are always intensely specific and are often, for no explainable reason, very sad.
