Before everyone starts /msg-ing me about typo's, let me explain...

Rational-emotive therapy,or RET, is a form of psychotherapy developed by Albert Ellis in the mid 1950's as a reaction to more conventional forms of therapy. Ellis thought that people's bad feelings stem from their own irrational interpretations of what happens to them. Ellis' RET involves a direct approach to counseling and, as part of that approach, Ellis invented funny names for his patients' irrational thoughts. One of those names is musturbation , which is what Ellis calls the belief that a person must act in a certain way or have some particular object in order to feel fulfilled and happy with themself. Another one of Ellis' neologisms is awfulization , which is the term for internal exaggeration of events.
