A short film depicting (or, often, reenacting) events in the news of the previous week or so. Before television caught on widely, these were a very popular way to keep up with current events. Typically shown between features at the nabes or neighborhood movie theatres.

Also, a coalition of political filmmaking collectives in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. Propaganda (or documentary, depending on how you look at it) films included pieces on the Black Panthers, the 1968 Democratic National Convention, etc...
