A light metering system used in some cameras, where the light meter is physically part of the camera, but setting the light meter does not set the shutter speed of the camera or the aperature of the lens. Instead, these must be set separately once the correct exposure is determined using the light meter. This system of metering is generally found on older cameras, or on cameras where the light meter was an option, purchased separately.
