Blessed are the network closets that use nylon cable ties. These are truly the spit and bubble gum of cable jockeys. Nylon cable ties are thin nylon plastic straps with small notches indented along the length of the strap and an end with a ratcheting hook that mates with the free end of the strap. When you tighten the strap, it makes a comforting zip sound to assure you that your cables aren't going anywhere. Nylon cable ties are good for everything from bundling network cables to impromptu hard drive mounts. They are even used in some police departments in place of handcuffs.
