A mutation of the seed of the coffee fruit. Normally, coffee fruits (called "cherries") contain a two-part seed (the "beans"). Peaberries occur when only one half of the seed grows in a cherry. These uncommon half seeds are rounder, have a more concentrated flavor and are more expensive. Popular peaberry varieties include Kenya, Tanzania and Kona.
