a peleean eruption results in a large quantity of gas, dust, ash, and incandescent lava fragments being ejected from the crater and falling back to form glowing avalanches down the side of the volcano which flow as quickly as 100 miles per hour. lava and ejected material is similar to that of a vulcanian eruption.



peleean eruptions are named for Mont Pelee in the West Indies.
