photopic vision is the state in which the cone cells in the eye receive enough light to be able to function (in other words, if you can see colors, it is photopic vision)

For example, normal vision in daylight is photopic.

Photopic vision happens in the illumination range that goes from 0.01 to 108 cd/m2.

If there is less light than that, scotopic vision kicks in.
