Artificial (plastic or whatever) Christmas trees are great for those of us who think it's pointless to kill another living tree every year just to watch it slowly die in our living rooms, festooned with tinsel. Let the real ones live and produce some oxygen for us to breathe instead.

There's an even better answer:

Buy a living, potted tree, have it visit your abode for a while and festoon it with bobbles and baubles. After an extended visit, take said tree and plant him/her/it in a nice spot where it will be happy for the next 20 years.

We used to do this every Christmas. There are trees hanging out in odd spots all over New York State, including one we planted halfway up Mount Marcy, the highest peak in NY.

So, have a non-plasticized Christmas and help the environment and oxygen supply at the same time.

Merry Christmas!
