Posi, short for "positive," is a sub-culture/sub-movement of the hardcore punk scene. The movement tries to free the hardcore scene from its violent and destructive stereotypes. Posi is closely linked to straight edge.
The positive youth:
- has short hair on the head and a smile on the face
- holds hardcore shows in VFW halls, and gets invited back
- doesn't litter or curse
- gets up at dawn for an early start on the day
- practices good dental hygene
- has the PMA (positive mental attitude)
- sews patches onto his sweatshirt using a neat blanket stitch to avoid unraveled edges
- prevents forest fires
Some positive bands include Bad Brains, Youth of Today, Crucial Youth, Positive Reinforcement, and Scholastic Deth.
