Process manufacturing one of two broad categories of manufacturing (the other being
discrete manufacturing). In process manufacturing product is made in
batches, using a
batch ticket created based upon some
formula. Instead of individual
parts (
screws,
bolts,
forgings, etc.), amounts of
raw materials are used (ie: a
x number of
kilos) and specified processes are used (such as
mixing) to produce a certain
quantity of
finished goods.
Examples of companies which would use process manufacturing would be paint, beverage, chemical, and many food manufacturers.
